About Us

BrainTek Institute: A Brain Management Center

Mission Statement:
"Our goal is to teach individuals to expand the use of their brain to their fullest potential in order to enable them to create a healthier, happier, and more productive life.”

Current Events at BrainTek
We are working with a major medical school at this time on a three-phase clinical review to validate our work and to assist the university in their research on low-cost methods of reducing stress and stress-related illnesses.

We are in discussions with a second major university to start a research program on childhood stress and stress's effects on children, to begin in September of 2012.

We have been invited to participate in these studies because our protocols have shown to be effective and our technology continues to improve.

Who We Are and What We Do

BrainTek Institute is an educational center where we teach brain management.  We are not a medical center. Often we work in conjunction with your medical doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, school teachers, special education program, IEP preparation, and intervention.

We do brain entrainment and we teach people how to manage their brain
Brain entrainment is based upon many decades of research and application as described in a white paper with references that is housed on this web site.  This includes disciplines that have been shown to contribute to improvements in cognitive, emotional, social, and learning abilities, and productivity.  We strive to stay at the cutting edge in research.  We are NON-MEDICAL.  We let the research departments at the colleges and universities we work with use our protocols in research projects which they operate or are planning.  If they do a medical project, it is under their licenses.  They document, research, and create the white papers.

Are we licensed in the State of California?  According to the eleven State of California agencies we interact with every year, no agency has a category to place us into.  We do expect this to change in years to come, but for now, every agency we have contacted -- from the Attorney General’s office to the Board of Psychology to the Board of Education -- does not require our type of work to have a license.

Who Oversees BrainTek?
We are overseen by the Natural Therapies Certification Board™. The NTCB is accredited by the Natural Therapies Accreditation Commission who merged with the American Accreditation Commission on July 1, 2011. AAC provides accreditation services and assistance to educational organizations and certification boards serving the natural health industry in the United States.  (Copied from the Board’s website.)

The NTCB is also a credentialed member of The Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). The ICE advances credentialing through education, standards, research, and advocacy to ensure competence across professions and occupations.  (Copied from the Board’s website.)

Dr. Maness is not a school teacher, school counselor, or school psychologist, and therefore cannot be certified by the State Board of Education.  He has been involved with two school districts as a consultant and as a teacher at a private, lock-down rehabilitation center, teaching brain management.  That course did not require state licensing or teaching credentials.

One of our team members, Bill Gorback, has shadowed and worked part-time with Dr. Maness for about ten years. Bill is state licensed, a graduate of Penn State, former President of the California School Counselor Association, Past Delegate to the American School Counselor Association, and a State Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor.  For about a year, he and Dr. Maness did two shows a week on Educational Television.  Others on our team are a Registered Nurse and naturopathic doctors.  Click the Our Team link to view information about the officers and Steering Committee for BrainTek.

Dr. Maness is not a medical doctor.  He is a former studio musician, studio engineer, and the son of a minister. Originally he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, to graduate from the same school and take the same path as his father, and he did.  His PhD is from Southern Bible Institute.

Following a serious illness, he put himself on his pathway to recovery by developing his audio protocols. Go to YouTube and search for BrainTek TV to listen to conversations by those who have been helped by using these audio signal protocols.  You can also learn about his technology and protocols by visiting the White Paper link on the menu bar above.

While the protocols that Dr. Maness has developed have been used by medical doctors, allopathic, holistic, homeopathic and other health care professionals, the science is still considered experimental.  When the two projects with major US university medical schools are complete, the plan is that the "experimental" label will be removed from BrainTek's programs. Testing to date has been successful, and everyone involved is excited with the results as we move into Phase Two.

Dr. Maness is certified to operate the equipment which was taken with those whose credit hours were certified by other boards, including the Board of Registered Nurses for the State of California, the Board of Behavioral Sciences, and the National Athletic Training Association. The group teaching the program is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists who maintain responsibility for the program and its content.

Our Advisory Board is made up of a medical doctor, a CPA, a registered nurse, a holistic doctor, and an educator.

Why Our Programs Work
We start with a brain map using a qEEG machine similar to those found in most clinics and hospitals.  This helps us locate imbalances within the brain. Some individuals may have too much beta or perhaps too much theta (brain frequencies).  Every brain is unique to the brain owner, just as everyone’s fingerprints are different.  Imbalances in the brain are unique to each person and require specially-tailored protocols, which is the reason we work with one brain at a time.  A protocol that worked on Sam doesn’t necessarily work on Harry.

We also look at food and environmental sensitivities which can contribute to focus, attention, and hyperactivity issues.  Diet and environment play a major role in your health and how your brain and body perform.  The data received from these maps help our trained practitioners fit you with a protocol that is right for your brain, then we train you how to manage your brain for the future.

BrainTek Protocols:
Brain imbalances can be addressed easily, safely, and with fun with our non-invasive proprietary audio protocols. It’s as simple as listening to the radio, playing games, and learning how to manage your brain.  Certain movements of the hands or the eyes and head can bring you to attention and focus in seconds. Once at attention, you can learn to take over and manage mind chatter and distractions.

Our programs are remote as well as in-office.
